NPSA Titans May 2017 Newsletter

May 2017 Newsletter

From the Desk of the DOC

Dear Titans,

It has been a hectic few weeks for our club with the end of the Spring Season, State Cup Finals and Tryouts all taking place in such a short space of time. It has been a whirlwind for our program and I’m sure for all our members too and we have so much great news to share as a result!

First off, we ended the Spring Season with 4 Division Champions and multiple teams in the Runner-Up position. To have so many of our teams competing at the top end of their divisions is a sign of the continued growth and strength of our program. However, development is not always related to winning and all of our teams demonstrated improvement in terms of the way they played their soccer and represented the club with class throughout Spring Season. So, congratulations to all our Titan teams for their effort and commitment over the Spring!

The WA State Cup saw 5 Titan teams make the finals with 3 taking home the Championship trophy. This is a quite remarkable achievement for our organization and I can’t express fully how proud I was watching our teams lift the State Cup trophy at 3 different age groups! You will read about this in more detail later in this Newsletter.

Tryouts yielded a record number of participants this year with over 500 players competing for spots in our program. Again, it is an amazing milestone for our club and a very humbling experience for me on a personal level. I am sincerely grateful for all the loyalty and support our members continue to show and I can only thank you by making this program the best it can possibly be for you and your children!

We move forward into the 2017/18 season stronger than ever with a great coaching staff, administration team and a real desire to keep raising the standards of our program and the programs around us!

Together Each Achieves More

Goalkeeper Union News

Our Goalkeeper Union is better than ever heading into the Summer season!

It was great to see some new faces come into our program through the tryouts and we are looking forward to working with our new members in the upcoming season! We have seen a tremendous amount of development in our goalkeeping community and our Director of Goalkeeping Keegan Rogers has been pleased with what our goalkeepers have been able to accomplish this Spring season.

We are looking forward to continued development heading into the Summer and Fall seasons and we hope our goalkeepers are excited! Coach Keegan has been working on a new training regimen that will focus on helping our goalkeepers become stronger and fitter.  Being a good athlete is critical to a goalkeeper’s success and it will also help the player’s longevity in and out of the sport.

Coach Keegan has been implementing some of this new training emphasis in some our private sessions and our goalkeepers are enjoying it! For the future, we are planning on creating some more goalkeeper training programs and bring on an assistant goalkeeper coach as well.

Please stay tuned for future updates from Coach Keegan and if you would like to join our NPSA Goalkeeper Union, please connect with Keegan using the email npsagkunion@gmail.com. Go Titans!!!
