February 2017 Newsletter
It has been a great start to the Spring Season with all our teams and coaches working hard over the last few weeks to prepare for the league & cup competitions! I’m sure you are all just as excited as I am to see the players back in action again!
Off the field, we have been just as active putting together a top class College Prep program led by Lee Hitchen. Lee has over 15 years of experience in collegiate athletics and higher education and we are lucky to have his unique and unrivalled skill set available to our players. Lee is literally the best in the business which is backed-up by the fact that the PSPL has recently acquired his services to develop and implement their Surf Academy College program too.
We are launching the NPSA College Prep program on Wed February 8th with a free introductory evening at Chesnut Hill Academy in Bellevue. This meeting is open to families with players currently in 8th grade up to 12th grade. Further details and a link to register can be found later in this Newsletter.
As a Premier Youth Soccer Club, it is important that we continue to offer the highest level of coaching and education for our players on the field but, equally as important, are the opportunities we can provide off the field to help them reach their highest level possible. Our College Prep program is another reason why NPSA Titans is becoming the first choice for families that want a genuine Premier Soccer Club in this area!
In addition and as part of the NPSA Player Pathway, we have created the Junior Titans which kicks-off this month. This program is essentially the step before joining one of our premier teams and is designed to give the players and families a taste of what premier soccer is all about. The Junior Titans involves two practices per week and a game on the weekends for an 8 week period with the NPSA professional coaching staff leading every session following a curriculum created by our Junior Titans Director, Jack Sturgess. Further details and a link to register can be found below.
Our Center of Excellence training program is currently halfway through its second sold-out session and all the players that are participating are enjoying the curriculum and environment created by the COE Director, Erik Oman. To have a man of Erik’s quality and experience working with our players and coaches is fantastic. Not only is he an NSCAA Instructor and ‘A’ Licensed Coach, Erik is also the Technical Director for the PSPL and Surf Academy. I am truly honored that Erik chose to be a part of our club and I hope all our players take advantage of the opportunity to work with him in Spring Season and beyond.
The next chance to do this is coming up with the launch of Erik’s ‘Prepare for Tryouts’ training program that kicks-off in early March. The curriculum has been designed by Erik and will focus on developing the skills and attributes all players need to impress in the pressurized situation that is a Premier soccer tryout. Whether you are an ‘A’ team player looking to retain your spot or a ‘B’ team player looking to move up, this program will give you the tools you need to perform at your maximum. Players will be divided into groups based on experience and skill level so this really is suitable and beneficial for all players. This program is open to any player whether they currently play for NPSA Titans or not and there are limited spots available. Further details and a link to register can be found below.
Finally, I want to wish all our Titan teams the best of luck for their Spring Season campaigns and I am looking forward to seeing all our players, coaches and families represent the club in the best way possible!
Together Each Achieves More
NPSA Coaches Taking NSCAA 7v7/9v9 Coaching Course
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced new coaching education programs that focus on small-sided games, developing from 4v4 to 11v11. The short and long term effects of the U.S. Soccer's Player Development initiatives are far reaching, impacting all youth clubs and coaches. As the youth soccer landscape is changing rapidly, all our coaches will be participating in this additional training during the month of February.
Titan XX Program in Full Swing
The Titan XX program is now in full swing with training sessions dedicated to our female players on Wednesday afternoons and evenings. Titan XX is focused on providing our female players with all the tools and education they need to develop as soccer players and good, young people. The female game and players are unique in many ways so the environment we provide them needs to embrace this.
Titan XX is coached by Erik Oman who has over 25 years of coaching experience and a resume that is second to none in the State of Washington. He is an NSCAA Coaching Instructor and holds a USSF 'A' License and a US Soccer National Youth License. Erik has also coached at the Division 1 College-level for 17 years working with multiple female teams.

A Word from our GK Director - Keegan Rogers
Our NPSA goalkeepers have seen a tremendous amount of growth so far in the new year. The coaches have been pleased with the goalkeeping performances in their training sessions and a lot of it has to do with our NPSA Goalkeeper Union Training Program that we host on Sundays alongside the COE. We currently have 16 goalkeepers who are attending these sessions and all have been working very hard to improve their skills. We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a second set of goalkeeping trainings from March 5th-April 9th! And because of a high demand from our goalkeeping community, we will also be increasing our registration numbers! Registration is now open, so if you are interested, please register before all of the slots fill upthe . Please keep an eye on our NPSA GK Union tab on our website for more news and updates. We will also be posting some informative goalkeeping articles that deal with many topics such as gloves, how to deal with weather, and what the "modern day goalkeeper" looks like. We are so happy for the continued growth of our community and we couldn't be more proud of the way our goalkeepers are carrying themselves on and off the field. Go Titans!
