Our College Pathway Program is crucial to NPSA players achieving their goal of playing soccer in college. The director of our program, Lee Hitchen, has over 15 years of experience in collegiate athletics and higher education. Lee came to NPSA with an impressive resume of both coaching and administration experience. Throughout his career Lee has played an important role in helping students and athletes.
Starting out as a college assistant coach, Lee moved into college admissions and financial aid where he was trained in the renowned higher education enrollment methods of Noel-Levitz, the leading enrollment management company in the US. With his admissions experience, Lee moved back into coaching as a head college coach and his rise in higher education came quickly. After being named head coach he was then promoted to college athletic director where he was responsible for all areas of 12 intercollegiate sports including oversight of all athletic scholarships. During his time as a college AD Lee also took up an adjunct instructor position specializing in sports management and marketing. Eventually, a promotion came calling. Lee was appointed as Dean of Students at the American College of Greece where he held various positions including a key position on the enrollment management team. In addition, with approximately 6000 students under his remit, Lee was responsible for the offices of student affairs, student life, counseling & health, and student government. After coming back to the US, Lee moved into athletic recruiting as a consultant, helping to guide young soccer players through the recruiting process.
During his career in higher education Lee was also involved in the Chicago 2016 Olympic bid specifically for potential training locations and transport hubs. While a college AD he also worked closely with US Soccer to provide training locations for the US Women's National Team, English Men's National Team, Polish Men's National Team, and Irish Women's National Team. Additionally, such professional teams as AC Milan, Bayern Munich, and Toluca of Mexico were all at one time or another training at a facility under Lee's charge.
It is easy to see why NPSA is excited to have Lee's unique and unrivalled skill set available to our players. We don't know of any other club that can boast a College Prep Director with this level of knowledge to pass onto their players. With this level of expertise we are confident that we will have many of our players on the right course for realizing their dreams of playing soccer in college.
